How we protect LED mast lights against surge damage

Surges caused by direct or indirect lightning strikes usually lead to partial or complete failure of the LED modules, destruction of the LED drivers, reduced brightness or failure of the entire control electronics. And even if the LED light initially remains functional after an overvoltage event, its service life can be significantly reduced as a result.

With an effective surge protection concept, you can avoid unnecessary maintenance work and ensure availability.

In the distribution box: the prewired DEHNshield is the first component of a holistic protection concept. The Type 1 + 2 spark-gap-based combined arrester is available with a floating remote signalling contact – this allows faults to be detected at an early stage and appropriate measures to be taken.

In the lamp pole: we have developed various options to protect the light point from overvoltage. The EK480 fuse box is the system solution for a new light point for installation inside the mast.
