Safe working on high voltage systems

The introduction of high-voltage technology in electric mobility requires high safety standards. This applies both to the organisation of work and to the use of certified "safety products". From a risk assessment to safety equipment in the electrotechnical environment – we support you with our protection concepts for safe working on high-voltage systems. We are guided by the requirements and recommendations from the information provided by the DGUV (German Social Accident Insurance).

Put your trust in our experience and protect yourself and your employees.

DEHN occupational safety for electric mobility specialists

Whether in the manufacture of battery systems for electric vehicles, in vehicle workshops, in rescue and recovery, in education and training or in battery recycling – electrical hazards are relevant in many areas of e-mobility. Anyone working on high-voltage systems with rms values of the operating voltage> 60 V and ≤ 1,500 V (direct current) or > 30 V and ≤ 1,000 V (alternating current) must observe additional safety measures. This applies to employee training, work organisation and the work and protective equipment to be used.

Protective measures and protective equipment for high-voltage systems

Firstly, carry out a risk assessment. This can be used to define the work procedure, the work assignment, the deployment of employees according to their qualifications and the necessary work and protective equipment. Additional qualifications are required for working on high-voltage systems, depending on the working environment. To ensure the necessary safety of your employees, you need personal protective equipment, safety devices and warning signs. DGUV-I 209-093 of the German Social Accident Insurance association supports you in all measures.

The DEHN portfolio for safe working on high-voltage systems:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE): The PPE protects the body, eyes, face, and hands during work on indoor and outdoor electrical installations.
  • Safety devices, protective and auxiliary equipment: Practical tools make it safe to work on live parts of an installation.
  • Warning and information signs: Barriers and special warning and information signs ensure a safe working environment.

Relevant standards for work safety in electric mobility
